The Yellow Cellar Wines of South Africa

Traditional values, Progressive people, Distinctive Wines

The Yellow Cellar of South Africa

The Yellow Cellar range of single-varietal and blended wines, both red and white, features The Cape White, a classic Chenin Blanc, with aromas of ripe guava infused with delicate spice. Zingy tropical fruit and crisp acidity make for a lively and lasting pallet.

The
Cape Red, a Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz blend is a wine full of the goodness of the Cape; ripe red berry fruit and a hint of spice. The Cape Red is soft round and easy drinking. The Yellow Cellar selection consists of ripe fruit-driven wines - well rounded and distinctly South African – at unmatched value for money. The range includes an oak-aged Shiraz and Pinotage as well as a Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc.

The home of the Yellow Cellar, the scenic Val du Charron (Valley of the Wagons or Wamakersvallei) owes its name to the intrepid pioneers who frequented the bustling hamlet of Wellington on the edge of the Dutch Cape Colony’s frontier to have their wagons checked before venturing into South Africa’s then wild and uncharted interior. Towards the close of the 18th century the French Huguenots brought the art and culture of winemaking to the Valley.

“The ward of Wellington has shed its Sleepy Hollow image with some promising wines... Recognised for Shiraz and gutsy red blends generally.” - John Platter South African Wine Guide 2004
